![]() These organizations have had their recognition revoked by the institution for various reasons, including such things as hazing, alcohol and drug abuse, risk management violations, and failure to comply with University policies and expectations. WARNING: Some organizations that were once recognized fraternities or sororities on campus continue to operate underground despite having lost recognition from the University. Those chapters listed under the recognized with distinction category have gone above and beyond the expectations of the Department of Fraternity & Sorority Life related to programming, attendance, and service initiatives.New sororities and fraternities must demonstrate a capacity to meet these requirements. Has reasonably complied with the University of Maryland Chapter Expectations established by the Vice President and the DFSL.Is accepted by one of the four governing councils: the Interfraternity Council, the Pan-Hellenic Council, the Panhellenic Association, or the Multicultural Greek Council, unless exempted from this requirement at the discretion of the DFSL on a case-by-case basis.Newly chartered chapters without an inter/national infrastructure may be exempted from this requirement at the discretion of the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life (DFSL) on a case-by-case basis Is in good standing with its International or National Headquarters. ![]() ![]()
